Hi! My name is Alex Lamon. Thanks for visiting.
In my school in Livingston, New Jersey, I have taught AP Economics, CP Economics, Investing, and Intro to Business/Personal Finance. I love getting students involved in extracurriculars to extend their learning. Outside of the school day I’ve had the honor of coaching the debate team, and am the current teacher coach of Mock Trial.
Professionally, I speak at the local, state and national level on a large variety of concepts including but not limited to: social media in education, introverts in the classroom, pedagogy of technology, simulations to enhance learning, going gradeless, and improving departmental academic programs. My presentations receive high praise and have been asked back to facilitate more professional development with each organization I connect with.
Teaching excellence is my biggest passion. My students thoroughly enjoy and learn from my classes. My students’ AP Economics scores have increased each year of my teaching career, with averages well about the state and national average. Enrollment in the classes I teach are at all time highs, which is important when I’m teaching students critical economic and personal financial literacy skills. As a lifelong learner, I frequent the Twitterverse (@AlexMLamon), and am a Master Teacher for the Council for Economic Education.
Technology is natural in my teaching. I have never taught without the resources of tech. I serve on both the ‘Future Ready Schools’ district and school committee in my work life. Outside of work, I’m on the National Business Education Association technology committee.
In my free time, I have organized multiple webinar series for teachers, and created and hosted a regional workshop at my school called Money Talks. Each year, these no-cost professional development opportunities reach ~300 teachers.
This website was inspired by a lack of resources, research, and connections in business education, specially for the eastern region states. I love connecting with passionate educators to enhance our crucial programs.
I’m always willing to discuss presenting at your school, conference, or event. Send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or check out my LinkedIn profile.
